f + f architectes has just delivered an apartment located on the top floor of an old Haussmann building. An emblematic achievement of the know-how of the Strasbourg agency which pays as much attention to the smallest detail as to the dynamics of large urban environments...

If the location of this apartment offered great potential, thanks in particular to its breathtaking view of the rooftops of Paris, its monuments and the Eiffel Tower, on the other hand, the oddity of the floor plan and the low ceiling height of some parts represented real constraints…

To overcome these difficulties, the architects proposed to completely open up the space by removing the structural partitions and walls as well as the grooves of the unused chimneys. From now on, the kitchen, the dining room, and the living room are united in a vast living space, bright and fluid offering beautiful perspectives on the outside...

In the center of this space is the Totem. Built around the remaining load-bearing elements, the Totem imposes itself as a central element that organizes and structures the living space. It houses several functions such as a foldable desk, a bar, a wine cellar, a multimedia center, refrigerators, an air conditioning system and storage, while defining the dining area, the seating areas and the work area. .

In contrast to the white walls and herringbone matt oak parquet flooring, the Totem is clad in dark gray Koto veneer. The same material is used for the kitchen furniture with Carrara marble tops, walls and shelves.

This fluid space is separated from the office, the entrance and the technical spaces by an undulating wall, punctuated by white lacquered fluted panels comprising several doors concealed by the same "cover".

The two bedrooms function as two separate suites. In the main one, there is a bathtub separated from the rest of the room by a headboard and bedside tables also in gray koto veneer. The floor and walls of the bathroom and shower, as well as the dressing room, are in Brazilian quartzite. A stone also used for made-to-measure washbasins.
