How to connect an isolated district to the city center? This is the question that the actors of the city of Creil (60) asked the teams of the Espace Libre agency, landscapers and urban planners, who are proposing a development solution that dramatically depicts the landscape. Back on a project that is both discreet and remarkable.
"The originality of this operation is due to a determined project owner who decided to link an isolated district of the city center by the inscription of an urban ramp across a wooded hillside". It is in these words that Maxime Saïsse, landscaper founder of the workshop, describes the Rampe à Creil project.
The town of Creil is characterized by a post-war urban context. As the city center continues to live, a dense neighborhood has developed on the heights of the commune, leaving the wooded hill dividing the two parts of the municipality. A clear break that only a monumental staircase could then counter.
Espace Libre's mission therefore lay in creating a smoother route connecting the different districts of Creil, this time taking disability standards into account. The reflection focused on the ecological restoration of the park, and in-depth studies of the site, its potential and the soil were carried out in order to limit the environmental impact of the construction.
This is about building to enhance nature. The project managers therefore rely on a discreet location, making the constraints of the terrain a strength.
To catch up with a flat coastline, essential for the use of people with reduced mobility, a footbridge placed at the bottom of the path begins the route which rises to the treetops and crosses an English park. A lookout at the top of the bridge with a steel structure and an oak and larch frame then offers an exceptional view of the Oise and the rest of the city. This is the first stage of a 1,2 kilometer long route which includes five others: the Laversine clearings, the belvedere at the crossroads, the crossroads, the place du randonneur and the ramp. At night, elegant and subtle illuminations sublimate the path and add a touch of magic to the ride.
A project with poetic sobriety.
